Professionally the going's good — your last two films are super hits already!
Yes, Housefull - 2 and Rowdy Rathore were good movies for me. And when a movie works, it instills confidence in you. I was doing an action film after seven years with Rowdy Rathore. The movie had a very Indian feel to it and so I picked up the script. I am happy that my films have been appreciated.

You are only playing these larger-than-life characters and doing over-the-top slapstick comedy films. How about doing some meaningful cinema?
There is no other way out for me! In the early phase of my career, I tried doing films like Sangharsh, even in the last few years I did 8x10 Tasveer, Patiala House but I only got critical acclaim for it. There were no results at the box-office. I would love to do a meaningful film after doing the regular masala commercial entertainers at the BO, but one has to remember that there is huge money involved here. Having said that, actors have to do what masses love and appreciate us for.

You and Shah Rukh Khan seem to have bonded very well, as we saw in the recent IPL matches. Have you found a good friend in him?
We are colleagues, so there's always been some sort of camaraderie between us. We share a mutual respect for each other's work. In fact, I really appreciate the way he made such a big action film like Ra.One. How many producers or actors would bring such kind of special effects and pump in so much money for a project? Of course, it was great to connect with him at the IPL matches too.

You keep dropping in on Gujarat, for professional and personal trips. Do you share some kind of karmic connect with the state?
My mom-in-law belongs to Gujarat and that connects me to the state. There's a special place in my heart for Gujarat. Just recently I visited the Ambaji temple for Ma's blessings with my mom-in-law and my son Aarav. I have also played many Gujarati characters on screen. In my recent film Desi Boyz, I played Jignesh Patel and enjoyed speaking the Gujarati dialogues in the film.

You will be welcoming a new addition to the family. Are you hoping for a girl child this time?
I only want the child to be healthy. I have no such preferences!.
